Mainstay United head coach, Galiel Penuel is confident that his club will make it into the national play offs of the ABC Motsepe League.

This comes after the Northern Cape-born coach led his side to an important 1-0 first leg win at home over Stream B winners, Young Stars FC in the Northern Cape provincial play offs.

The match took place on Sunday, 30 April.

United will square off against Stars in the second leg on Sunday (7 May) where the winner of the tie will book their place in the play offs later this year where a spot in the National First Division awaits.

The 43-year-old coach, who is also a graduate of the SAFA C Licence coaching course, believes promotion to the National First Division is well within reach only if his boys remain focused.

“We are just one match away from making it into the national play offs and I believe this is the year where we can make our community proud. Our people have rallied behind us from the beginning of the season and it is only fair that we reward them with a promotion to the NFD,” said Penuel.

Four teams have already secured their places in the national play offs with the remaining four to be decided in the coming weeks.
