Macabuzela Young Killers finished top of SAB Umkhanyakude Region in KwaZulu-Natal; thanks to the goal-scoring exploits of lethal striker Bongani Dube.

Dube finished as the Umkhanyakude South Cluster B top goal scorer after rattling the back of the net 21 times to help his side finish at the summit of the log.

The 28-year-old goal poacher, who hails from Mtuba Township in KZN, believes that hard work and strong competition in the team played a key role in what he describes as his best SAB League season so far.

“It was quite a difficult season as most teams came out stronger this year. I have been doing extra work at training by myself and I am glad that the results have shown. Being a striker is not easy as defenders have become smarter and more aggressive these days.

“I am glad that I have an equally good team that always works hard and refuses to lose. This has positively rubbed off on my performance as well,” said Dube.

Young Killers are preparing for the SAB regional play offs which will be confirmed after this weekend’s fixtures from Stream A.

Should “Eto”, as the striker is affectionately known in his community be on song, the team may well be on course to the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.
