28 April 2017 – The Burger King-sponsored South African u20 Men’s National Team wasted no time and held their first training session in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Thursday evening (27 April 2017) shortly after their arrival in the city.
Amajita will have their final training session tonight (Friday, 28 April 2017) before taking on Feyenoord FC in a practice match on Saturday, 29 April 2017.
They will also have two more fixtures – against Ajax Amsterdam (Sunday, 30 April) and PEC Zwolle (Tuesday, 2 April).
The clashes are part of South Africa’s preparations for the 2017 FIFA u20 World Cup, which will take place in South Korea from 20 May to 11 June.
Meanwhile Amajita midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo appreciates the opportunity of being part of the squad.
“I am beyond words at how excited I am to be in Holland, this is my first trip out of the African continent. I am even more honoured to be part of the Amajita family. This team has become a second home to me ever since I was called up in November last year. I hope my generation of footballers appreciate the exposure and opportunities we have. It is great to interact with other players who play abroad as they motivate us to work even harder to achieve our dreams,” said Ngcobo.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine being where I am right now. I am going to play against the likes of Ajax Amsterdam – teams we have only seen on television, yet as a young boy from KwaZulu Natal, at my age, I have this opportunity. It is just unbelievable and I am loving every minute of it.”
The squad will return to South Africa on Thursday, 4 May.
