The South African Football Association (SAFA) is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that young aspiring coaches around the country acquire their coaching badges.

As part of SAFA’s Vision 2022 which entails increasing the number of coaches at amateur level, the Association is in the process of touching every corner of the country, equipping coaches with the necessary coaching skills and qualifications. This in turn will enable them to develop and nurture talent at amateur level.

The SAFA D Licence coaching course, which is an entry level coaching course, has been rolled out across the country since March this year, something the SAFA coaching department says has been a major success.

In just two months, a total of 143 coaches from different parts of the country have went through the five-day coaching programme which touches on various aspects of professional coaching.

SAFA’s coaching officer, Christina Phafane expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in rolling out this project.
“There is a great passion for coaching in this country and this is evident by the great response we have received so far in the coaching programmes we have conducted.

“In just two months, we have equipped a large number of coaches who can now go back to their communities and help identify and nurture our future stars. There is still a lot of work to be done but we are confident that the effort that has been put in will certainly reap rewards in the near future” said Phafane.
