SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan has had a hectic period in the past few days which has seen him host new CAF President, meeting new Sports Minister and flying off to USA to foster relationships with the US Soccer Federation.

Last Friday, the SAFA President hosted CAF President Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar who in March defeated Issa Hayatou 34-20 in an election that took place in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. The meeting took place during Ahmad’s first regional visit to COSAFA, a region that catapulted him to the highest seat on the African continent.

The COSAFA meeting was chaired by its President, Phillip Chiyangwa of Zimbabwe and included the entire region’s FA presidents.

The meeting resolved that going forward; COSAFA will have to play a huge role in African football affairs both on the field of play and political affairs.

On the same day, SAFA president met new Sports Minister, Thulas Nxesi whom he introduced to both Chiyangwa and Ahmad.

At a press briefing later, Minister Nxesi congratulated Dr Jordaan for being elected among the new CAF Executive and wished both Chiyangwa and Ahmad good luck in their new roles as presidents of COSAFA and CAF.

After a hectic Friday, Dr Jordaan together with SAFA CEO Dennis Mumble flew off to the USA the following day to meet their counterparts from the USSF including President Sunil Gulati to discuss various partnerships.
