Maccabi were crowned champions of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League stream, while former PSL giants Moroka Swallows suffered relegation yet again.

Maccabi secured the league title in emphatic fashion after they thumped AmaBEE FC 4-1 on the final day of the season and will now progress to the National First Division play-offs.

Moroka Swallows were relegated to the SAB League (Fourth tier) after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Orange Vaal Professionals, who finished the season in second spot. The Dube Birds have now been relegated for the third successive season. They dropped out of the Absa Premiership in 2015, before being relegated from the NFD the following year and have now failed to beat the drop once again.

Five years ago Swallows lifted the MTN8 title and fast forward to now, they will be plying their trade in the fourth tier from next season. Mofolo BET Stars were the second team relegated to the SAB League, despite claiming a 2-1 win over African All Stars.

Mofolo, who have 24 points, still have one more game to play but they cannot catch M.Tigers and Garankuwa United, who both boast 28 points. JDR Stars were front runners for most of the season, but ended the season in third spot after running out 5-0 winners over Baberwa on the final day.
