Zizwe United’s leading goalscorer Mpho Erasmus is back in contention for a place in the starting line-up for Saturday afternoon’s clash against Atlantic Nacional.

Erasmus was unavailable because of suspension for a red card, and was sorely missed by the SAFA Western Cape ABC Motsepe League log leaders, as they drew both league their matches against Grassy Park United and Cultural Roots, with both encounters ending 1-1.

The Uitenhage-born marksman, who has netted 25 goals in the in the Western Cape, is back in contention for a place in this weekend’s team that will play at the Portuguese Club Field A.

“It was not nice watching the team from the sidelines, but I was confident we could soldier on because we have the quality in the team,” he said.

“We have Bongo Ncusana and former Bafana Bananas international Siyabonga Nontshinga in the squad now, so we have the squad to keep going.”

He added that they have noted Steenberg United’s challenge for the championship, but rallied his troops to stay focused.

“We can’t afford to worry about what other teams are doing. We need to stay focused on what we need to do. We are the current leaders and we have to try and keep it that way.”
