With Acornbush United having already wrapped the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League title, focus shifted to the relegation battle, where one team has already been demoted.

Premier United headed into their week 27 and 28 clashes needing to pick up three points from both fixtures. However, they lost 3-0 to Acornbush on Wednesday, before going down 2-1 to Witbank Citylads over the weekend.

As a result, United have now been relegated to the SAB League, with a couple games remaining.

Focus will now shift to final relegation spot, with as many as four teams still looking to avoid the drop.

15th place, Mphakathi Academy missed the chance to move out of the drop zone, after they played out a 3-3 draw with ­ FC Zone Mavo.

Mphakathi would have rued that missed opportunity, after 14th place Mhluzi Black Rangers were held to a draw by Secunda Stars, who occupy 11th spot, four points above the drop zone.
