SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan has applauded the Mpumalanga Provincial Government’s sponsorship of the Integrated Schools Sports League which will benefit football, rugby and netball.

The Integrated Schools Sports League played by the u13, u15 and u17 from football, rugby and netball age groups, culminated in the finals which took place in Nelspruit on Wednesday, 1 December 2016.

All winning teams on the day walked away with cheques for R200 000 plus medals, trophies and each a bus they can use to fulfil future competitions.

The runners up each got R100 000 while best players in each category received R2 500.

“I want to applaud, on behalf of SAFA, the Mpumalanga Provincial Government for this biggest investment ever in School Sport. The excitement among educators, parents and pupils during the finals event spoke of a nation whose love for sport was unsurpassed,” said SAFA President, Dr Jordaan.

“We are very excited as SAFA and will continue to work hand in hand with the Mpumalanga Provincial Government in making sure that we enhance participation of our youths in sporting activities especially football.

“This is one way, we can expedite talent identification and will coordinate matches involving our Provincials teams that will be monitored by our national teams in a bid to grow a massive pool of talent,” said Dr Jordaan.
