Super Eagles’ lead at the top of the Free State ABC Motsepe League was trimmed by Bubchu United, while Lijabatho boosted their hopes of survival.
Super Eagles saw their lead at the top cut down, after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Bloemfontein Young Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Bubchu United took advantage of Eagles’ slip up, and defeated Dla 2 FC 2-1 to cut the leaders’ lead from six points to three.
Mangaung Unite and Harmony sit in third in fourth respectively level on 46 points, after both sides secured victories over the weekend to maintain their slim title hopes.
Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they host African Warriors, while Bubchu United travel to the Bronville Stadium to face Sibanye Golden Stars.
Moving to the foot of the table, Dinonyana and Dla 2, who occupy 15th and 14th spot respectively, both suffered losses in week 23.
However, Lijabatho took full advantage as they registered a 1-0 win over Free State Stars to move within a point of Dinonyana and two points behind Dla 2.
All three sides will be in action on Tuesday, as Dla 2 host Dikwena United, Lijabatho travel to Tshiame All Stars and Dinonyana welcome Bloemfontein Young Tigers.
