Uthongathi extended their lead at the top of the KwaZulu Natal ABC Motsepe League table, with a fellow contender not in action, while the bottom three dropped points.

Umvoti were not involved in the weekend’s action, as their scheduled opponents KwaDukuza United took part in the Nedbank Cup, where they eliminated Ajax Cape Town.

However, Umvoti will be in action on Wednesday, 15 March 2017 when they travel to Ashley United, while Uthongathi host Sobantu Shooting Stars.

The relegation battle is far from over, as all three candidates failed to pick up victories over the weekend.

However, Gamalakhe United moved two points clear of Dundee Rangers and four points clear of KwaMashua, following their 1-1 draw with Matimatolo Stars.

KwaMusha remained rooted to the foot of the table after they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Happy Wanderers, while Dundee, who occupy 16th spot were thumped 5-1 by Durban FC.

Gamalakhe United and Dundee have played three more matches than KwaMashu, so there is still a lot to play for heading into Wednesday’s matches.

KwaMashu will travel Nedbank Cup giant killers, KwaDukuza United, Dundee host GWP Friends, while Gamalakhe take on Milford FC at the Moses Mabhid Outerfield.
