Log leaders Zizwe United bounced back to winning ways, while Cultural Roots improved their chances of survival.

Western Cape SAFA ABC Motsepe League pacesetters Zizwe United returned to winning ways in dominant fashion, with a 7-0 victory away at Milano United at Solo Sports Field on Saturday afternoon.

Zizwe let a one-goal lead slip in the last minute at home against title rivals Steenberg United last week, and had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the end.

The battle for the league championship thus continues, as Steenberg beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Philippe Stadium to stay three points behind the leaders and keep their title hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Cultural Roots came out tops in the battle of the bottom teams, with a 3-2 win over Devonshire Rovers.

Roots’ hopes for survival have since improved as they have now replaced Palace in 14th place, tied with 13th placed Jomo Powers on 18 points.

It was another weekend of good football in the Western Cape’s ABC Motsepe, well done to all the teams and officials.
