As many as five times are still vying for the Free State ABC Motsepe League title heading into week 20.

The race for the title was blown wide open on week 19, as leaders Bubchu United suffered 3-2 defeat at home to Central University.

Super Eagles took advantage of that slip up and thumped struggling Lijabatho FC 4-1 to cut Bubchu’s lead from four points to one.

Harmony FC were the biggest losers over the weekend, as they missed a chance move to the summit after going down 2-0 to Bloemfontein Celtic and subsequenyly dropped to third in the table.

Bloemfontein Young Tigers and Mangaung Unite FC sit in fourth and fifth spot respectively, four points adrift of top position, after the latter secured a 2-1 over Young Tigers last weekend.

However, all eyes will be on the fixture at the Zuka Baloyi Stadium on Saturday afternoon when Harmony host Bubchu United.

Switching focus to the relegation battle, Celtic steered clear of the drop zone, following their victory on match day 19, which saw them jump up to ninth.

Bottom place, Lijabatho have a chance to improve their situation this weekend when they travel to Zuka Baloyi Stadium to face Dinonyana FC, who sit in 14th position.

Dla 2 FC, meanwhile, remain in 15th spot after they were dismantled 6-0 by Tshiame All Stars but they will be looking for a response when they host FC Hunters on Saturday afternoon.

This weekend’s action should prove to be exciting as results could have serious implications for teams at the top and the bottom.
