The South African u20 Women’s National beat neighbours Zimbabwe 4-0 in a hard fought semi final in the 2016 edition of the AUSC Region 5 Youth Games out in Luanda, Angola.

In the first half Zimbabwe had clearly tightened their defence and corrected their errors that had seen them concede six goals against South Africa in the last group stage earlier in week however; it all fell apart in the second half when Basetsana, got theor first goal just six minutes into play.

A smart shot by Linda Matlhola in the 51st minute gave the South Africans their opening goal, which clearly demoralized Zimbabwe, who then conceded their second goal two minutes later.

Sibulele Molweni curled a beautiful ball into the net in the 53rd minute, and although she had sustained a knock managed to get a brace when she converted her second goal in the 62nd minute.

South Africa’s fourth goal was scored by Karabo Dlamini, on the 60th minute after she combined execleently with Molweni.

South African Head Coach Sherly Botes brought in Kaylyn Jordaan in place of Karabo Makhurubetshi at the start of the second half to allow better control of the midfield, while Sibulele Molweni and Lelona Daweti who have been exceptional throughout the tournament where later substituted for Khanya Xesi and Antonia Maponya respectively, due to the harsh tackles on them throughout the match.

South Africa booked their ticket to the final of these prestigious youth games, in style having scored a total number of 8 goals thus far, have not conceded any goals and have had at least four players tabling the list of top goal scorers in this tournament.

They will now play against Namibia, in which promises to be the match of the tournament, as both teams will be looking for bragging rights within the Southern African region.
