SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan told delegates at the 26th SAFA Annual Congress that took place at Emperors Palace on the East Rand on Saturday, 10 December 2016 that SAFA’s Vision 2022 aims to see the Association being number one in Administration, Finance and in the Field of Play.

The Annual Congress coincided with the 25th Anniversary of SAFA where Ekhurhuleni President, Louis Tshakoane gave a moving Happy Birthday rendition.
The SAFA President spoke about the success of all of National Teams which he said were all number one within the COSAFA Region adding the next intention was to make sure that success is carried through the continent and the entire world.
Dr Jordaan however, explained how the success of the national teams, especially by those not getting corporate financial support, drained the coffers of the Association as was evidenced in the past financial year.
He then praised strides being taken by all and sundry to make sure that Vision 2022 is a success especially with regards to intense coaching training which he said is aimed at reducing the player/coach ratio.
On the financial side, Dr Jordaan said making SAFA a billion Rand business was non-negotiable as funding was one way to make sure that all developmental programmes are achieved.
“The ultimate aim of Vision 2022 is to make sure that we are world beaters – that is being consistently among the top teams in Africa and the world,” he said.
But for South Africa to have sustainable success, Dr Jordaan said SAFA wants to increase participants of football to 10 percent, meaning around 5 million people must be involved in football by 2022.
“We are making huge strides in these efforts so let us not be engaged in frivolous power play and focus on real matters of football development,” he warned the members.
“We need to strengthen our work and forge ahead in partnership with our Provincial structures. It is in this regard that I want to thank all our commercial partners. Without them, most of our programmes would not be achievable.”
Lastly, the SAFA President wished Mamelodi Sundowns who are the African champions all the best in FIFA Club World Cup currently taking place in Japan.
