The Sasol-sponsored South African Women’s Senior National team (Banyana Banyana) who were knocked out of the 2016 Edition of the CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations, by current champions Nigeria on Tuesday night are confident they would atone that defeat with a third place finish.

Banyana Banyana play Ghana in the third-place play offs on Friday.

The South Africans spent all of Wednesday moving back to Yaoundé from Limbe.

Interim Head Coach Desiree Ellis admitted that experience was one of the causes for the loss and that although the team played beautiful football, goals are what count in this sport.

“Critical decision-making was our downfall against Nigeria and all we can do now is try and win the bronze on Friday afternoon. We were in this same situation two years ago and we hope that we can do better than we did in Namibia, where we came fourth,” said Ellis

Banyana Banyana will lock horns with the Black Queens of Ghana at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, in Yaounde.

Kickoff is scheduled for 15h30 local time (SA time 16h30).
