November 14, 2016 marked the official launch of the Totalsports safe-hub in Alexandra, the fourth safe hub in the country and the first implemented by SAFA Development Agency (SDA).

President of SAFA, Dr Danny Jordaan welcomed the launch of the Alex safe-hub saying such projects would expedite the realisation of Vision 2022.

“Total sports are leading the way in funding the football development. Not only have they made a 5-year commitment in funding and helping the implementation of Vision 2022 but have invested in much-needed football infrastructure especially in disadvantaged communities like Alex.”

Totalsports Head of Brand Craig Lamb said his organisation was happy to contribute in community development through football activities.

“As Totalsports we are delighted to be able to play a part in our communities where we operate. Our partnership with SDA is an important one because we believe that sports has the power to change lives. We would like to display our commitment in transforming and empowering the youth through the culture of sports.” said Lamb.

The Alexandra North Local Football Association (ANLFA) was thrilled and grateful for being nominated as beneficiaries of this project and hopes to uplift its community through football.

Through a social franchise model with the support of national government; SDA and AMANDLA have embarked in a partnership to roll-out 100 more safe-hubs around the country in the next 10 years.
