SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan has sent letters of congratulations to Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Hlompho Kekana and Keagan Dolly for their nominations for continental and FIFA awards.

Kekana has been nominated for the prestigious 2016 FIFA Puska Award as well as the CAF African Player of the Year.

The tenacious midfielder scored an incredible long range effort during the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 qualifier against Cameroon in a moment of magic that stunned the entire football world.

The Sundowns captain then helped his team win the CAF Champions League title, the biggest club prize on the African continent to complete an amazing year.

“The South African Football Association, the football loving nation of South African and me in my capacity as President, would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and express our pride at your nomination for the 2016 FIFA Puska Award and the CAF African Player of the Year which ranks you as one of the best in Africa 2016 Top 5.

Your nominations are a true testament to your hard work, discipline and commitment to the game. The wonderful goal you scored against Cameroon, in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations match on 26 March 2016 and your nomination and your stewardship of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Champions League will continue to inspire young people in our country to aspire to be the best in the world,” said Dr Jordaan.

The SAFA President also sent a letter to Dolly on his nomination for the CAF African Player of the Year award.

“I wish the two of you all the best at the awards ceremony.”
