Bafana Bafana arrived in Polokwane on Monday afternoon to start preparations for the upcoming crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier against Senegal on Saturday, 12 November 2016 at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The match kicks off at 15h00. Meanwhile, Burkina Faso will face Cape Verde in the other Group D match.

The Bafana Bafana delegation was met by Polokwane’s Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Onicca Moloi and several SAFA officials from the Province at Polokwane International Airport.

Both Cllr Nkadimeng and MEC Moloi emphasised the need for Bafana Bafana to make the country proud by bagging all the three points and assured coach Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba that Peter Mokaba will be filled to the rafters, come Saturday.

The last time South Africa played Senegal was in the 2015 Edition of the annual Nelson Mandela Challenge where the home team prevailed 1-0 at Orlando Stadium.

Mashaba assured the South African public that he was intent on making the country proud by winning against Senegal on Saturday.

The squad will start training on Tuesday, 8 November at Peter Mokaba Stadium and tickets for the match are already on sale at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers Stores around the country and are going for R60 all round.

Meanwhile, new Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk has arrived in the country and has already joined his national squad teammates.

The imposing striker said he was excited to represent Bafana Bafana and says his dream was to go to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
