Coach of the Burger King sponsored South African u20 men’s National Team (Amajita) Thabo Senong has called up overseas-based Thabo Cele and Luther Singh for the upcoming friendly match against Kenya on 26 November.

The Amajita/Kenya friendly is part of the preparations for the upcoming 2016 u20 COSAFA Cup which will take place in December at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg.

Coach Senong said he would have also wanted to have a look at Liam Jordan who recently moved to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon and Zama Ramabuwane who turns out for Hapoel Ra’anana AFC in Israel but the two are not available for now.

But Cele and Singh will definitely form part of the squad that will take on Kenya and Senong says he is excited to have a look at these two overseas players.

Amajita who are current u20 COSAFA Champions will be looking to retain their title when the tournament kicks off on 7 December 2016 in Rustenburg.

Singh who ploughs his trade at the Sweden based club GAIS Göteborg, strongly believes in the abilities of Amajita and that they have a squad that will manage to retain the cup.

“I am honoured to be in Coach Thabo Senong’s plans and I want to honour this camp. I was not able to join the team during the CAF U20 AFCON qualifiers so I really hope that my club will release me for the tournament,” said Singh.

Cele who plays for Portuguese second tier side Real Sport Clube is also relishing the prospect of being part of Amajita.

“These four players have always been part of the team and unfortunately qualifiers do not fall under the FIFA calendar; therefore Luther and Thabo were not available for the qualifiers but Zama and Liam played very critical roles during then.

We are looking forward to them bringing their experience into the team and ensuring that we do well in not only the COSAFA Cup but the CAF u20 AFCON early next year and hopefully in the 2017 FIFA u20 World Cup,” Coach Thabo Senong.
