The 2016 Edition of the SAFA U19 Interprovincial Tournament got underway on Saturday morning at the Kagiso Sports Complex in the SAFA West Rand.

The Western Cape provincial team was the biggest winner of the day having won both their matches and scoring 8 goals in the process.

It was however, not good news for North West and Gauteng teams who ironically lost both their matches of the day.

The opening matches of the day saw Free State win 3-1 over Mpumalanga, while Gauteng lost 1-0 to Limpopo on field B. In the second round of matches Western Cape beat Eastern Cape 5-0 and followed this with another impressive 3-0 victory over Northern Cape.

In other afternoon matches, Gauteng lost 3-0 to KwaZulu-Natal while North West were hammered 6-0 by Free State.

Free State top the tournament with 6 points having score 9 goals in their two games while Western Cape are second having also secured 6 points and have raked in 8 goals.

Day 2 of the tournament will see the following fixtures taking place; Northern Cape will face Eastern Cape while KwaZulu-Natal will host Limpopo at 10am and North West will play Mpumalanga at 11h30.
