The decision on who has the legal right to run the SAFA EThekwini Region will be determined soon following the hearing that took place at SAFA House on Thursday, 29 September 2016.

Advocate Hilton Epstein SC assured all parties that after the last hearing, the outcome will be relayed to relevant authorities and interested parties sometime next week.

There has been an ongoing tug-of-war on who has the right to run the EThekwini Region between the Alpha Mchunu-led executive and the one recognised by the head office headed by Mazwi Mkhize. Following the drawn out dispute, the matter was brought to the arbitrator.

“The arbitrator will give his ruling next week and we hope it puts to bed once and for all this issue which has dragged on and on. The uncertainty has also had a negative impact on football development in the Region but we hope as from next week, it will be all systems go,” said SAFA’s legal officer Tebogo Motlanthe.

“The arbitrator has promised to give his verdict in the matter early next week. The Association is happy and expect all parties to respect the outcome.”
