SAFA Lejweleputswa of Free State hosted the FIFA Grassroots and Live Your Goals festival last week where 400 children participated in the programme.

The aim of the two programmes is to build up grassroots football to boys and girls of the ages between 6 – 12 years old and to discover talent at a young age.

Legendary Coach Anna Monate was present throughout the week in which aspiring coaches were introduced to the D License manual which emphasises on how to develop talent amongst young children.

National U17 Men’s Football team Head Coach Molefi Ntseki was also present and shared some issues that face coaches who work with youngsters.

Regional President Mr Vincent Tseka was very impressed with the standard of aspiring coaches and the passion they showed throughout the week. He touched on the importance of children having fun while their talent is unearthed and discovered.

“I hope that in the near future we will have the opportunity to host this festival again. However, I believe that it is very crucial that these programmes are also taken to schools around the country.

We as the Association are doing our level best to grow the game of football, but we need assistance from all stakeholders,” said Tseka.
