The South African flag will be flying high in Egypt tonight (Friday, 16 September 2016) when referee Daniel Bennet takes charge of the 2016 Orange CAF Champions League semi-final clash between hosts Zamalek and Wydad Athletic of Morocco.

The South African flag will be flying high in Egypt tonight (Friday, 16 September 2016) when referee Daniel Bennet takes charge of the 2016 Orange CAF Champions League semi-final clash between hosts Zamalek and Wydad Athletic of Morocco.

The first leg will be played at Stade Borg El Arab in Alexandria, Egypt.

Kickoff is at 20h00.

Bennet will be working alongside Zakhele Siwela as his first assistant referee, while Stevens Khumalo will be the second assistant referee.

“We have always maintained that our match officials are much sought after on the continent because of the high standard we have. We are extremely proud that these three gentlemen have been such a huge match, it shows that our good work has not gone unnoticed. Let me take this opportunity to wish them luck and hope they make the country proud,” said Peter Sejake, Head of the SAFA Referees Department.

The second leg for this match will be played on Saturday, 24 September in Rabat, Morocco.

The winner will face the winners in the other semi-final clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Zesco United of Zambia.
