Ncedo Secondary School was crowned the Eastern Cape Kay Motsepe Provincial champions during the finals held on Saturday 10 September 2016 at Jans Smuts Stadium in East London.

The EC finals were contested by 8 schools which were divided into two groups of 4 teams each.

Group A was won by Charles Morgan School who won all their matches meaning they went into the final with a 100% record. In Group B, Ncedo won 2 matches and drew 1 which booked them a place in the final with 7 points from 3 matches.

The final was a closely contested affair and after ending in a goalless draw, had to be decided through penalty kicks.

The hero of the day was the Ncedo’s goalkeeper, who ensured that his school wins the R100000-00 cheque prize by winning the shootout 8-7.
