The South African Football Association has noted a statement from the FIFA Ethics Committee regarding the sanctioning of former SAFA President Mr Kirsten Nematandani.

The South African Football Association has noted a statement from the FIFA Ethics Committee regarding the sanctioning of former SAFA President Mr Kirsten Nematandani.

The Association will make a follow up on the matter regarding his proposed banning and will engage the world governing body, FIFA to get more details.

In the meantime, both SAFA and Mr Nematandani will make no further statements until such time as further clarity is received.

Meanwhile, SAFA has sent condolences to the Nematandani family following the death of the former SAFA President’s father. Nematandani Snr passed on Friday afternoon and funeral arrangements are ongoing.

“It is a difficult period for anyone to lose a close member of his family and to Mr Kirsten Nematandani; I say on behalf of the entire football fraternity that, we share your grief in these difficult times.

May the departed soul of your humble father rest in peace,” said SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan.
