South African match officials have once again being entrusted with a top CAF Champions League match featuring Asec Mimosa of Cote D’Ivoire and Al Ahly of Egypt on 23/23 August 2016 in the Ivorian capital of Abidjan.
Veteran referee Daniel Bennet will take charge of the match while seasoned assistant referees Zakhele Siwela and Sandile Dilikane will be running the lines. Kulasande Qongqo will be the reserve referee.
SAFA’s head of referees Peter Sejake said the continued demand of South African referees was an endorsement of how competitive ‘our match officials are.’
“We have said this over and over again that our match officials are among the best on the African continent though some local critics doubt that. CAF has given us a vote of confident with the amount of appointments our referees get,” said Sejake.
