Free State……………0

USSA………………..(0)2

USSA are the 2016 SAFA/SAB u21 League championships winners after beating tournament favourites and defending champions Free State in a free-flowing game played at a sunny Oscar Mpheta stadium at the University of Limpopo on Saturday afternoon.

The win by USSA completed a great week of football which had fans clamouring for more for most of the time.

And it was two second half goals by Tebogo Galane and Katlego Banda that saw USSA complete an amazing campaign which saw them account for some of the big guns in the tournament.

Yet, it could have been a different ball game altogether had Free State utilised most of their chances in the first half in which they camped in USSA’s half but could not break the tight new champions defence.

Having missed most of the opening chances, Free State were forced to rue those opportunities when USSA came back from the break a changed side. It was a matter of time before the opening goal came as they put Free State under a lot of pressure and created numerous chances.

Something had to give in as midway through, USSA took the lead when, first Galane saw his effort beat Sandile Kinji and moments later Banda made sure of a good win by USSA with another great goal.

And yet it was Free State who were the first to make inroads and had two good efforts brilliantly saved by Shakeel Sadien in goals for USSA.

Despite playing second fiddle for most of the first half, USSA fashioned a few chances of their own and with a bit of luck could have stolen a goal in that tepid first half.
