Defending champions Free State and surprise packets USSA will contest the Saturday final of the SAFA/SAB League u21 championships taking place at the University of Limpopo in Polokwane.

In the two semi-finals that took place on Friday, 15 July 2016 both Free State and USSA defied the odds as they beat favourites Gauteng and hosts Limpopo respectively.

The final will be played at Oscar Mpheta stadium on Saturday, 16 July 2016 and will be beamed live on SABC at 15h00.

In the first semi-final, Free State survived an early scare when they conceded a penalty in the early stages of the first half but pulled level almost immediately.

Gauteng were then awarded a second penalty soon after but Bongani Mabena’s spot kick was well saved by Sandile Kinji and were later forced to rue that missed opportunity.

The defending champions then completed the misery for Gauteng with well -taken two late goals through Lerato Mofokeng and Thabo Maphakisa to run away 3-1 winners.

In the second semi-final, USSA stunned the hosts 4-2 in an exciting game to book a final berth against Free State.

USSA’s goals came from Xolisa Makubalo, Tyrone Mondi, Sachil Jackson and Dylan O’Brien while Limpopo goals came from Frank Motebejane and Andries Maitsapo.
