The squad that will depart for Windhoek, Namibia on 15 June 2016 to take part in the 2016 COSAFA Cup comprises mostly of u23 squad that will take part in the upcoming Rio Olympics scheduled to kick off in August.

South Africa will open their account on 18 June from the quarter final stage.

“This is a young crop of players and was put together by the entire technical staff headed by Bafana Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba. With this squad, we are looking beyond the Olympics because apart from an amazing talent on display, the boys are determined and hungry for success,” added Da Gama.

“We all know how coach Mashaba is a big fan of young players and the nation will be proud of these youngsters. They really want to serve their nation with distinction and form part of SAFA’s Vision 2022. These are the new giants of South African football.”

The squad will have a training match this evening against the Soweto 11 as part of their preparations but first will watch the Amajita match against Namibia at FNB Stadium.
