With South African match officials very much in great demand in CAF competitions, this weekend sees referee Daniel Bennett leading a team to DRC.

Bennett will be away in Lubumbashi to be in charge of the CAF Confederations Cup clash between TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tunisian outfit Stade Gabesien.

The match takes place on Sunday, 8 May 2016 at Stade TP Mazembe and kicks off at 15h30. Zakhele Siwela (Assistant Referee 1), Mothibidi Stevens Khumalo (Assistant Referee 2) and Victor Gomes as the Reserve Referee, will accompany Bennett.

“As SAFA, we will continue to produce referees that are world class and the constant demand of our officials in international tournaments is testimony to our goals.

“Our match officials are still regarded among the best on the continent and I want to wish the four all the best this weekend and to continue being good ambassadors for the country,” said SAFA President Danny Jordaan.

NB:​The 2nd 1/8 round of the Orange CAF Confederation Cup pits losing clubs of the 1/8 round of the Orange CAF Champions League against survivors of the CAF Confederation Cup to determine the eight clubs for the group phase
