In a must win game against Tunisia, South Africa took the lead in the opening minutes of the first half but as they searched for the killer goal, left lots of gaps at the back which were exploited by Tunisia who scored seven goals in the second for the final scoreline of 7-1.
South Africa lost 7-4 to Mozambique in the opening game of the tournament but rallied back to beat Zambia 3-0 in the second game.
They then needed to beat Tunisia in the final game to proceed to the semis but faltered in a disappointing second half in which they conceded seven unanswered goals.
