Four South African clubs will be flying high the country’s flag when they take part in continental competition this weekend.

Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits and Ajax Cape Town will be representing the country in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup competitions.

Wits sets the ball rolling when they travel to the Seychelles for a date with Light Stars FC on Saturday, 13 February 2016 with a 16h00 kickoff (14h00 SA time).

Two hours later (16h00 SA time) Ajax Cape Town will play GD Sagrada Esperança at Estadio Sagrada Esperança, Lunda Norte in Angola – local time will be 15h00.

In the CAF Champions League, Mamelodi Sundowns will visit neighbours Chicken Inn of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe on the same day. The clash will take place at Luveve Stadium at 15h00.

There will be no love lost on Valentine’s Day (Sunday, 14 February 2016) when Volcan Club de Moroni hosts Kaizer Chiefs in a CAF Champions League tie at Stade de Moroni in the Comoros. Kickoff is at 15h00 local time (14h00 SA time).

“As the South African Football Association, we are proud to have four clubs representing our country in the CAF club competitions. Without putting too much pressure on all four teams, we would like them to emulate Orlando Pirates by going all the way and do even better and bring the trophy home,” said SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan.

“We are all aware it is just the beginning of a long and hard road but we have huge confidence that our teams will hold their own against some of the best on the continent and assure all the participants that they have our unwavering support as their success is our success. Good luck to all the four teams; go out there and make the country proud.”
