Bafana Bafana had an almost full compliment of players of the CHAN squad on the first day of training on Monday, 12 October 2015.

The squad held their first training session at Marks Park.

They will face Mamelodi Sundowns in a practice match on Tuesday, 13 October at Chloorkop.

South Africa takes on Angola in the first leg of the first round fourth edition of CHAN, 2016 Rwanda on Satuday, 17 October at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

Kickoff is at 15h00.

Black Leopards striker Roggert Nyundu has also been added to the squad to bolster the attack and give the coaching staff more options upfront, and this brings the number of players called up to 27.

Nyundu, however, missed the first training session together with Thami Sangweni of Chippa United,  as well as the Orlando Pirates trio of Thabo Qalinge, Luvuyo Memela and Gift Motupa – but all have already reported for national team duty and will join their compatriots at training on Tuesday.

“This is a great turnout for the national team and makes us very happy. With such numbers we are able to work out our combinations very early on and have the team ready for match day. The first day went very well and I was impressed by the attitude of the players who showed eagerness to do well for the country, and that is what we need in the national team,” said stand-in coach Thabo Senong who is assisted by former Bafana Bafana winger Helman Mkhalele while head coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba is in Central America preparing another group of players for an international friendly match against Honduras on Wednesday morning (14 October) at 02h00.

The only player yet to arrive Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Ekstein.

Meanwhile tickets for the match are still available for R40 all round at Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers and Shoprite/Checkers stores countrywide.

The return leg against Angola is scheduled for Saturday, 24 October.

It will be played at the 11th October Stadium in Luanda.

Kickoff is 15h00 (16h00 SA Time).
