The South African Women’s Under 20 National Team (Basetsana) is back in camp to prepare for the 2016 Papua New Guinea Women’s u20 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
This is the second round of competition and Basetsana will take on Zambia on Sunday, 27 September 2015.
The encounter will be played in Zambia.
South Africa started their camp on Friday, 18 September.
They defeated neighbours Botswana 9-1 on aggregate but know they face an even tougher opponent in Zambia who brushed aside Tanzania to reach this round.
Basetsana head coach Elisabeth Migchelsen has kept the bulk of the team that played against Botswana. She has called up 24 players to camp – the number will be trimmed down to 20 before the squad travels to Zambia.
The third and final round – which could be against Nigeria – will be played on the weekend of 23-25 October with the return leg set for 6-8 November 2010.
The South Africans are conducting their training sessions in Bedfordview and will depart for Zambia on Thursday, 24 September.
They are expected back in the country on Monday, 28 September with the second leg set for a fortnight later.
The 2016 FIFA Women’s Under 20 World Cup tournament will be held in Papua New Guinea from 28 October to 16 November.
Sixteen countries will take part in the tournament – two of them will be African representatives.
Germany won the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after defeating Nigeria 1-nil in Canada.
