Three former national team players have left the country for Germany to enhance their budding coaching credentials.

Former Banyana Banyana captain and currently assistant coach in the same team, Desiree Ellis together with former midfielder Maud Khumalo – both CAF A Licence coaches  flew to Germany in the company of former Bafana Bafana winger Helman “Midnight Express” Mkhalele for a three-week high-level coaching course with the German Football Association (DFB).

The trio left last Saturday. Bradley Carnell and Delron Buckley are also attenting the coourse.

They will spend the three weeks studying modern trends in football.

“To compete with the rest of the world, we need to arm ourselves with great coaching brains; that is why we won’t hesitate to send our representatives when such opportunities arise.

“All three are the future coaches of this country, so it was only natural that they should go and increase their knowledge so they can plough back when they return,” said Fran Hilton-Smith, Assistant Technical Director for Women’s Football.
