Banyana Banyana have departed for Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday, 30 July 2015 to take on the host nation in a crucial second leg third round 2016 Rio Olympic qualifiers.

The South Africans flew out on flight SA180 at 15h25 and are expected to land at 20h30 local time in Kenya (19h30 SA Time).

The match will take place on Sunday, 2 August at the Machakos Stadium, about 63 kilometres outside the capital Nairobi. Kick-off is at 14h30 South African time.

Banyana Banyana completed their South African leg of preparations with their final training session held at the Nike Football Training Centre in Pimville, Soweto.

“Preparations are going very well and the coach is emphasising on team organisation and just to work for one another because it’s going to be tough, but we are getting great conditioning to prepare well for the battle ahead,” said Banyana Banyana midfielder Amanda Dlamini.

The visitors will resume training on Friday, 31 July in Kenya and they are well aware of what is in store for them.

“We are expecting an open match and they will want to prove a point. Also, playing in their backyard they will want to come with guns blazing so they can reverse the result and proceed to the next stage. But we know the importance of the match, we need to win at all costs. Mentally we are ready, we just need to sharpen our physical conditioning so we can finish them off,” said Banyana Banyana midfielder Amanda Dlamini.

The squad departed with a clean bill of health.

The Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana won the first leg 1-0 a fortnight ago.
