Defending champions Bidvest Wits will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the final of the 2015 SAFA U17 Boys National Championships currently underway at the Nike Football Centre in Pimville, Soweto.

The final will, however, be played at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, 12 July 2015 starting at 10h00.

It will be held as a curtain raiser to the Women’s World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Botswana, which will kickoff at 15h00.

In the first semifinal, Wits walloped Gauteng 4-0 while Sundowns did a demolition job on Limpopo in the second semifinal, scoring six without reply.

Wits made their intentions very clear from early on, grabbing on goal in the first half and three quick goals in the second stanza – Edson Khumalo (19th), Shungu Dutiro (36th), Andile Nkosi (38th) and Itumeleng Shoba (55th).

The victory set up a mouthwatering battle against Sundowns, who have been cruising in since the start of the tournament as they have now won all their four matches.

Wits won three and drew one and will perhaps face their toughest opponent to date – Wits defeated Kaizer Chiefs in last year’s final.

This year will also be battle royale – Wits haven’t conceded a goal, scoring 12 of their own in the process while Sundowns netted 18 times, conceding just once.

Keabetswe Mokwena of Sundowns continues to be the top goal scorer with six goals after netting twice against Limpopo (18th and 20th minutes). He was joined on the score sheet by Siphesihle Mkhize (23rd), Musawenkosi Mdhluli (30th and 51st) as well as Damien Smith (54th).

The young Brazilians will be without the services of their coach Godfrey Sapula who was given his marching orders in the semi-final.

Limpopo will face off against hosts Gauteng in the third-place play off at the Nike Centre on Friday afternoon (10 July).
