SAFA head of referees, Peter Sejake says he is excited about the upcoming soccer season which will see a number of new innovations to improve the game.
As from next season, the officials will use the internationally acclaimed vanishing spray for all incidents within the penalty area among other things.
80 Elite and FIFA accredited referees have been attending a pre-season week-long workshop which ran from 3-7 July 2015 in Pretoria to prepare them for the upcoming season.
Sejake said he was impressed by the commitment shown by the officials adding he was looking forward to the new season.
A record 77 officials completed the grueling fitness test in record time.
“The officials have really shown that they take their work seriously. This is going to be a defining season for our game. I am looking forward to it,” said Sejake.
Among the areas the officials focused on during the workshop was concentrating on the Laws of the Game in which presentations were made, paying particular attention on the severity of the offence, penalty area incidents, mass confrontations, positioning, diet and eye-testing.
