SAFA\SAB Under 21 Championship player of the tournament, Sphamandla Dlamini, says his award will go a long way to help him achieve his dream of playing in the PSL very soon.
Dlamini was named the best player of the the tournament during the SAFA/SAB Under 21 Championship Gala Dinner held in Pretoria on Thursday evening.
The Mpumalanga province striker has conceded that the award came as a big surprise.
“I am feeling emotional. It all came as a big surprise and I didn’t think I would win this kind of award,” says Dlamini.
“It shows that there is something good that I am doing on the field. I am a hard worker and I like scoring goals to help my team win games,” he added.
The Secunda-born striker says his dream is to play in the PSL, but he wants to start with a small team to get exposure to top flight football.
“I want to go and play in the PSL. I would like to play for teams like Wits or Ajax so that I can get more game time. I am grateful for the chance that SAB has afforded me to expose my talent.
“I haven’t spoken to any team at the moment but there are a few agents that have been taking my phone number,” says Dlamini.
The semifinals of the SAFA/SAB Under 21 Championships take place on Friday with the Final set for Saturday.
