Bafana Bafana have completed their preparations for the international friendly clash against Angola which is scheduled for the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, 16 June 2015.

Kick-off is at 15h00.

Bafana Bafana trained at the match venue on Monday (15 June) without the injured Oupa Manyisa who was stretchered off in the Saturday (13 June) encounter against Gambia in the CAF Orange Africa Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 qualifiers.

Manyisa got a knock on the shin and has an ankle sprain – even though it is not serious, he sat out the training session as a precautionary measure. Manyisa is doubtful for the Angola match.

South Africa go into this match at the back of a goalless clash against Gambia.

“We were just unlucky. We created many chances, especially in the second half but we couldn’t put them away – and sometimes that happens in the game of football. I think in the next game we must come right and put the chances away. If you watch at training we are working hard on it, and it will come with time. I believe we will get it right. There’s no one to blame – including the strikers – because we are team, we play together. I am confident it will get better, and I don’t think there is a lack of confidence in the team,” said Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero.

“The coaches made it clear to us that there is no easy team, and all the players know that. Now we have to work hard to get results. There is no easy team any more in international football, for us to get points we have to get stuck in.”

His words were echoed by defender Rivaldo Coetzee.

“Everyone is still positive. We had a good game against Gambia, some good interplays and very good football going forward unfortunately we couldn’t bury the chances we created but overall we did very well. Credit must go to the team for being able to create so many chances. Going into tomorrow’s game (against Angola) the guys will have that hunger and desire to score goals. If you saw the strikers at training today you could tell they wanted those goals,” said Coetzee.

“I don’t think there is any player that doesn’t want to score, but also it is not very easy to get a goal. We have opponents we must go through, and these days teams are very clever and study opponents. It is our aim to score goals so we can get a victory.”

Bafana Bafana will leave for Johannesburg on Wednesday (17 June) to continue with camp in preparation for the CHAN qualifier against Mauritius pencilled for the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, 20 June. Kick-off is at 15h00.

Overseas-based players – Anele Ngcongca, Serero, Andile Jali, Ayanda Patosi and May Mahlangu – will be released from camp after the Angola clash as the CHAN is only for players based in their home country.
