The National under 23 Men’s Team (Olympic Team) held a recovery session on Wednesday morning which will be followed by a late training session ahead of their two international friendly matches against Egypt in preparation for their 2016 Rio Olympic qualifiers scheduled for July 2015.

The recovery session was held after an entertaining friendly practice match against Bafana Bafana which ended 2-1 in favour of the senior team.

Owen Da Gama’s charges will play against the Egyptians on Thursday 11 June 2015 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Clermont, Durban. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 then again on Sunday 14 June 2016 at the Chatsworth Stadium at 14:00.

“We as the technical team are very excited to have this caliber of players in camp and to be playing a nation like Egypt in these two friendly matches. We see this as a positive step in our preparations for the Olympic qualifiers. Egypt has come to South Africa with a lot of experience and quality players.

“They are team that is highly tactical in their approach, because of their ability to hope around the Mediterranean they are able to play against European opponents. Our approach against the Egyptians will be highly offensive with a lot of ball possession and mobility; we believe this is the way forward as these are the attributes that quantify the type of player we have,” said the coach.
