The South African Football Association (SAFA) has wished Orlando Pirates well in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Buccaneers are just one round away from the Group Stages of the competition after they routed CF Mounana of Gabon 3-0 on Saturday (2 May) in the second leg to win 5-3 on aggregate having played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg two weeks ago.

In the last knock out stage, Pirates were drawn against Association Sportive Kaloum of Guinea Conakry. The club is popularly known as AS Kaloum.

They are the current champions of their local league, and find themselves in the Confederation Cup after losing to USM Alger of Algeria in the CAF Champions League.

“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Orlando Pirates on a fine display over the weekend against the Gabonese opponents. They are now closer to the business end of the competition and we want to wish them luck in their play-off match against AS Kaloum. We are confident with their vast experience on the continent that they will continue to make our country proud. We wish them all the best,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.

The first leg will be played on the weekend of 15 – 17 May away, and Pirates will host the visitors a fortnight later (5 – 7 June).
