Sasol Banyana Banyana will take on neighbours Botswana in an international friendly match scheduled for Saturday, 7 June 2014.

The clash will take place at the University of the Vaal. Kickoff is at 15h00.

The match comes after the withdrawal of Comoros from the 2014 African Women’s Championship qualifiers. Banyana Banyana defeated Comoros 13-0 in the first leg. The second leg scheduled for this weekend (Saturday, 7 June).

South Africa’s Coach Vera Pauw has kept the bulk of the players who featured in the match against Comoros, but has also invited a few other players to have a look at – strikers Kgadi Mokoma and Chantelle Esau from Sasol League triple national champions Palace Super Falcons from Gauteng.

“Our goal is to become a force to be reckoned with in international women’s football. Playing against Botswana provides another opportunity for us to sharpen our skills and get closer to our goal of finishing in the top three in the African Women’s Championships later this year. This clash against Botswana is one of those that will assist in getting the team in good condition for the AWC.” said Pauw.

Sasol Banyana Banyana will be based in the Vaal for the duration of the camp.

The 2014 African Women’s Championship will be held in Namibia from 11-25 October.

The tournament is also been used as qualification for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top three qualifying for the finals in Canada.
