The Burger King-sponsored South African National U20 team (Amajita) will finalise their preparations for the 2017 CAF u20 African Cup of Nations in Polokwane this weekend.

The CAF u20 tournament will take place in Zambia from 26 February – 12 March 2017 in Lusaka and Ndola.

South Africa will host the Eagles of Mali in two international friendly matches before they make their way back to Zambia. Amajita lost 2-1 to the Junior Chipolopolo on Sunday in an away international friendly match.

Though head Coach Thabo Senong was not pleased by the outcome in Zambia, he was grateful on how his combinations are gelling and now looks forward to rectifying any errors of concern when Amajita play Mali this week.

"Against Zambia we saw a few loopsholes here and there; we have addressed most of these through our video sessions. Against Mali, we intend on working on our set pieces and a few other formations. But the team is doing very well and we look forward to the upcoming AFCON," said Senong.

South Africa is in Group B, alongside Cameroon, Senegal and Sudan while Group A consists of hosts Zambia, Egypt, Mali and Guinea. The top for winners of the tournament will qualify for 2017 edition of the FIFA u20 World Cup to be hosted by South Korea in May.
