The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa signed a memorandum of understanding with the South African Football Association and the Premier Soccer League at SAFA House, Johannesburg today.

The memorandum outlines co-operation between the bodies to ensure that the SAFA and PSL personnel have maximum exposure to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009.
The main aim is to ensure there is a transfer of knowledge and skill between the LOC, PSL and SAFA. The hope is that after the tournament in 2010, there will be specialised knowledge within the South African football family that will enhance the level of the game.

The first testing ground for the Memorandum is the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 which happens in a little over a year. Although preparations are well underway, the CEO of the LOC, Danny Jordaan, believes that there is room for improvement. He told members of the media: "Our first cooperation will come from the preparations for the Confederations Cup, this is the first opportunity to discover on an operational level how we can cooperate."

The CEO of SAFA, Raymond Hack, was very optimistic about the enthusiasm of the football family. "You will not find more passion anywhere in the world," he insisted. "We all have the same goal - to make sure South Africa delivers the best FIFA World Cup ever." Hack also pledged the South African FA's support as the national association.

The PSL and the LOC are already collaborating in the media environment, with Some of the media officers from the top flight clubs being trained as venue media officers by the LOC for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 and 2010 FIFA World Cup. Kjetil Siem, the CEO of the PSL, reiterated the importance of the memorandum. He told the media: "We want to use the FIFA World Cup as a tool to build skills for the PSL which will help in the running of professional football after the games."
