Profile

Daniel Alexander Jordaan, is the newly-elected President of the South African Football Association and until recently Chief Executive Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa, life’s history is enriched with a variety of dynamic paths that eventually earned him the position at the top of the World’s most prestigious international sporting event.
Popularly known as Danny, he has over the years been a Senior Lecturer, Politician, Sports Administrator, Businessman and a Political activist in the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. He was also an active sportsperson participating in various sport including soccer, cricket and hockey.

Academic

He studied at:

1981 - President of Eastern Province Soccer Board.
1984 - Deputy President of the South African Soccer Federation.
1989-91 - One of the leaders in the unification of Football in South Africa
1991 - Interim President of the South African Football Association (SAFA)
1991-97 - Vice President of the South African Football Association (SAFA)
1997-2010 - CEO of SAFA, the 2006 Bid, 2010 Bid and 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
2010 - Vice President of the South African Football Association.

Politics

1970’s - Member of South Africa Student Organisation (SASO) led by Steve Biko
- Member of South African Black Student Intervarsity Council (SABIC)
- After completing studies Joined the United Democratic Front (UDF)
- He became a member of the South African Council on Sport (SACOS) as Vice President whilst serving as President of the Eastern Province Soccer Board
1984- Became Deputy President of the South African Soccer Federation
1989- He travelled to Lusaka Zambia as part a delegation of the National Sports Council and the South African Soccer Federation to present a document to unify South African Football as part of a process of unifying South Africa
1990 - Became the President of the ANC in the Port Elizabeth North area
1994- He served as member of Parliament under President Mandela
- During this period he served as a member of the Department Trade and Industries delegation for South Africa – European Union Trade Agreement
- He served as member Presidential Task Team to deal with the transfer of the Diplomatic recognition of Taiwan (partner of apartheid SA) to the Peoples Republic of China (Beijing)
- He was later deployed by government to South African Football
