The South African Football Association (SAFA) has set up a Communications and Media Directorate following an intense external and internal environmental analysis. The Directorate started its basic operation in February 2007 with a constant interaction with the media, our sponsors, government and other stakeholders; and plans are underway to advance the scope of operations.
As the proud host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Our strategic intent is to communicate effectively and efficiently with all our stakeholders; and also to manage the information relating to all aspects of the Association. We are in the process of installing a three dimensional communications tool comprising of Intranet, Database and Website.?xml:namespace>
We are unveiling the www.safa.net at a time we are preparing ourselves to kick off a new season, where coaches and players of professional and amateur leagues are gearing themselves up for a pulsating football season. The SAFA website will mirror the on and off field eventualities as we pursue our quest to keep the world informed about projects and programmes of the Association. The second phase of our Communication programme will focus on addressing internal communication and information management. |

The SAFA family has grown in numbers, we have increased our regions from 25 to 52, and we have other associate members like the United Schools Sports Association of South Africa and the South African Football Medical Association just to name a few, this set up poses a major internal communication challenge for the Association, and the Intranet will be one of the mechanisms to tackle this challenge. The database or competition management system will enable us to do proper recording of names, facts, events and also facilitate a smooth administration of all SAFA leagues and Competitions. We are faced with challenges of age cheating and we envisage a situation of tracking players from the moment they register with SAFA structures through our competition management system.
As proponents of media freedom, we are looking forward to consolidate our relationship with the Fourth Estate by forming strategic alliances with progressive media houses. SAFA regards the media as a vital stakeholder in the advancement of football; and we take this opportunity to invite the media and the football loving people to join our discussion forum on the website, the forum is meant to open up constructive and uncensored debates about a variety of topics that will help us to take our football to greater heights in 2010 and beyond.
