AMAJIMBOS COACH ON A MISSION TO DEVELOP QUALITY PLAYERS
25 January 2008
| The National under 17 coach Tebogo Moloi is gathering his players early in the year to prepare for Continental and Youth World Championships. Moloi’s Amajimbos side lost 4-2 on penalties to Zimbabwe at the COSAFA finals in Namibia last year December, and already he is on a rebuilding process. Amajimbos will set up camp at Milpark in Johannesburg from the 28th January to February the 3rd in preparation for an international friendly against neighbours Lesotho, Amajimbos will leave for Lesotho on February 1st and play the match the next day at the Bambatha Sports Complex in a 3pm kick off. |

Moloi’s tactical and physical preparation for the team will be held at the SAFA Simba Development Centre in Pimville-Soweto. Moloi says he has assembled a team comprising of players who participated in Namibia and the ones he selected from the SAFA Provincial teams. “My objective is to blend the players into a competitive force, to keep them active throughout the year and make them ready for continental and World Youth Championships,” says Moloi.
Moloi was also quick to allay fears that a busy program is likely to affect the players’ education. “We take the players’ education seriously and that’s the official position of the South African Football Association, our plan is to keep the players for 3-4 days in camp to avoid disrupting their schooling; added Moloi.
SAFA CEO Raymond Hack says the Association is embarking on a repositioning strategy to assist junior teams to perform competitively in international tournaments.
