Amajita ready for Lesotho

2010-07-21

The South African National under 20 Team (Amajita) are in camp preparing for the Saturday’s African Youth Championship qualifying match.

South Africa is scheduled to take on Lesotho at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday (24 July). Kick off is at 3.pm.

Amajita played a practice match against Namibia on Tuesday (20 July) at the Germiston Stadium; the match finished 2-1 in South Africa’s favour.

Coach Khabo Zondo says everything is going well in camp and that the boys are looking forward to a tough match against a very good opposition.

“The Camp has been good enough for us especially looking at the fact that we are meeting for the first time and managed a win against Namibia yesterday , we are aware of the tough challenge ahead. The players are responding well enough as you can imagine it is very difficult to get players to adapt to your style of play in a short period of time,” said Zondo.

The Coach says preparations for this weekend’s encounter are on track and he is happy that none of the players picked up any injuries in the match against Namibia. Zondo says the non availability of some players had little disruption for the preparations.

“One of the challenges that we experiences was the availability of players for this camp, but we are going to work hard to make sure that we start these qualifiers on a high with a win as we are playing at home; winning this match is very much important as it will assist us in planning accordingly for the away fixture,” said Coach Zondo.

The South Africa and Lesotho’s second leg encounter will be played in Maseru (Lesotho) in August.
